Construction Update - 4/18/2020

The HSRB–II job site is continuing to perform work on site under modified site rules that take into account the latest recommendations from the CDC. Work will continue as long as project managers feel that everyone on the job site can continue to do so safety. The additional safety measure of taking the temperature of everyone who comes on site will begin on 4/20/2020.

This past week's (4/13/20 to 4/11/20) scheduled work activities:

  • Excavation activities continue on the G- 1 level getting increasing closer to HSRB – I building everyday.

  • Rock blasts were conducted on Monday and Tuesday 4/13 & 4/14 respectively. These are the last 2 scheduled blasts for the project. Future rock removal will be performed with a hydraulic rock ram because of the proximity to HSRB – I walls and foundations. This activity is unfortunately louder than blasting, but blasting is no longer prudent this close to an existing structure.

  • See this PDF for an illustration of many of the construction activities currently underway on the project site.

  • Demolition of the existing retaining wall at the HSRB – I loading dock is underway. Installation of electrical duct bank at loading dock continues.

  • Installation of driven piles at generator yard completed.

  • Construction of forming for foundation wall between G- 1 & G-2 Levels is underway.

Next week's (4/20/20 to 4/25/20) scheduled work activities:

  • Mass excavation of G-1 level will continue.

  • G-1 & G-2 spread footing pours continue.

  • Continue forming and pouring of G-1/G-2 wall will continue.

  • Electrical duct bank installation continues.

  • Installation of underground plumbing at G2 level begins.

  • Installation of drilled piers at G-2 level to begin on 4/20/20.
